The Parable of the Blind
The work of Dutch painter Pieter Bruegel the Elder has always been of great interest to me. This tone poem on Bruegel’s painting from 1568 was composed in the year 2000, and marks the second time I have composed music inspired by his work.
Recorded in 2001 by the London Symphony Orchestra, Roger Briggs, conducting.
“The Parable of the Blind transcends both the painting and the biblical story, which portray the men as foolish. Bullen musically paints their humanity, their acceptance of their suffering.” - Peter Bates, from the 2001 MMC CD entitled The London Symphony
Duration: 6’45”
